Example Managing Change Journeys

Berkshire Consultancy Ltd (BCL) is working to support the University of Birmingham (a Russell Group University) in delivering against its strategic framework. This support includes providing consultancy, facilitation and training services to its Organisational Development department. In addition we are helping to prioritise their resources and investment. We are equipping managers, leaders and members of staff in the skills to design and deliver change on an ongoing basis. All while working directly to support the University in delivering its core business of research and teaching. Feedback from our work has been very positive. The mix of enhanced understanding and practical tools has increased confidence in leading and managing the next phase of the change process. Leaders are more aware of their role during change and have more and better strategies for dealing with a range of responses to change.

BCL has been offering consultancy support to RSA for several years. As part of equipping the organisation to enhance its' activities, BCL worked with the senior management team to design and deliver an integrated Leadership Development Programme. This supports the required changes in attitudes, behaviours and skills, working differently with three levels of management. Senior Managers had a sequence of personal coaching sessions, offering personal and tailored support to key leaders. The outcomes of this work has been a range of 24 internal projects, the development and communication of a revised strategic approach, significant changes in management styles and approaches, which has led to increasing amounts of value added work being done internally, as opposed to external contractors.
